Last Thursday, Greenscape of Jacksonville hosted a ribbon cutting celebrating 101 newly planted trees at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. We had a very generous turnout from city officials, board members, and friends of both organizations. We want to extend a very warm thank you to City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government, JaxParks and Allstar Irrigation Company for making this project possible! We look forward to watching these trees grow and benefit the city for years to come. #cityofjax #ilovejax #urbanforestry ... See MoreSee Less

In two days we will gather at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center to recognize the planting of 101 trees, a project sponsored by the City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government, JaxParks and Allstar Irrigation Company.-Among the trees planted were Eastern Red Cedar, Sycamore, Southern Live Oak, Cabbage Palmetto, Bald Cypress and Winged Elm. All of these trees will provide wonderful shade to horses and their owners, while trees such as the Cedar will absorb storm water in low lying areas, increasing the longevity of the property and reducing flooding. -We look forward to seeing the immediate and future impact this tree planting has on the Equestrian Center and City of Jacksonville. -(Photo of Eastern Red Cedar, courtesy of Gabrielle Dempsey) ... Greenscape of Jacksonville is dedicated to planting, protecting, and promoting trees in the River City. Our first project 46 years ago was the planting of 250 trees #Downtown. We've now added more than 350,000 trees in neighborhoods, schools, parks and highways in areas such as San Marco, Riverside, Avondale, the Beaches, the Northside, Springfield and more! In honor of #904day, Greenscape will continue to enrich the city’s beauty, health and economic vitality through trees. Every donation made today will help fund a future tree planting Downtown.
